U.S. Chapters Recognized at Think Tank
On December 5, 2009, Chapter Directors from across North America gathered in Philadelphia with the purpose of inspiring and collaborating to change the cities they serve. The day started with songs of praise and a devotional from Robert Carrillo, Evangelist and Chapter Director of the San Diego Mission Chapter, entitled "Summon The Heroes," – the theme for this event.
We were reminded that all we do, each event we plan, every person we serve is for God's glory. The Chapter Directors, many moved to tears, were encouraged that HOPE worldwide is fully committed to spiritual, faith-focused service to the poor and that headquarters is making huge strides to put the local HOPE worldwide programs back in the hands of disciples.
Several Chapter Directors shared openly of their struggles in service and moments of getting weary, along with inspiring victories. We were in awe by stories of how God used the Chapters this past year to help individuals become Christians and draw others closer to Him. Ideas were exchanged to help Chapter Directors improve their relationship with volunteers and church leadership to create a more positive, non-burdensome service experience.

Official Chapters Recognized
Randy Jordan presented framed certificates to 13 official HOPE worldwide Chapters in attendance at a HOPE worldwide Chapter Awards Ceremony; each were awarded official Chapter recognition and approved to serve locally under the HOPE worldwide name. It was an encouraging time for everyone.
New Theme Announced
In addition, we launched our new 2010 theme – A Celebration Of Faith In Action. Antonio Boyd, Vice President of U.S. Programs, shared with the Directors about “ A year of THANKS.” During 2010, the HOPE worldwide Headquarters will be recognizing HOPE worldwide heroes by thanking the churches, individual disciples and supportive evangelists for their sacrificial lives and the tireless support they have shown. Here at headquarters, we recognize that HOPE worldwide could not exist without the churches and its members who give day after day, year after year.

Giving Thanks
We reflected on 1 John 3:18, "Dear Children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." We have seen that disciples are fighting everyday to walk in step with Jesus and sacrifice themselves to serve with love instead of duty. As one who is privileged to work with the 99 Chapters of HOPE worldwide, I am able to see the big picture and hear stories of faith in action daily. It is time to share those stories with the churches and say "thank you." We look forward to lifting up our volunteers and evangelists over the coming year.
As the "Think Tank" came to a close, each Director left with new friends and a renewed vision for their Chapter. As we close out 2009 strong we are excited to begin 2010’s “Celebration Of Faith In Action.
